Review: ALBION Exage White White Generate

Tuesday, July 19, 2016

Every couple of years, Albion reformulates its Exage (Moist) and Exage White skincare range. Some products from Albion Exage White were repackaged and reformulated in this March. I've used the old version of the milk and the cream a few years ago and those were too drying for me, however, I decided to try out the new Exage White because I heard the new formula is more hydrating and much better.

The first item I picked up from the new Exage White is the serum.

White Generate is a brightening serum. Actually it is the the only one among Exage White range that contains Tranexamic acid as active brightening ingredient, which is most effective in preventing melanin production and to hence preventing new unwanted pigmentation.

Albion's serums work like moisturizer, they can be used day and night as the final step of your skincare routine. Just in case you are unfamiliar with Albion's unique skincare steps - I wrote a blog about their skincare system here.

Albion Exage White Generate is a milky fluid that absorbs into the skin quickly. The texture is quite rich for a serum; it's like between serum and emulsion. I use this serum only in the morning as I want a lighter moisturizer before starting makeup. Albion recommends to use a precise amount (3 pumps) which is generous and it's enough to keep the skin hydrated all day.

The scent is very pleasing to the nose. I am in love with this soft, floral fragrance all Exage products have.

I've been using this serum for a month now and I don't see any brightening effect so far. I don't really have any problems with spots yet, but my main reason to use brightening serums is to get rid of my uneven skin tone and also to prevent future spots from appearing.
Since I've been using Cle de Peau Beaute Brightening Serum Supreme (reviewed here) for years, I already know that Tranexamic acid does work for brightening my skin. There are several brightening ingredients on the market today and the effect of the ingredient differs in each person and each problem - you need to try some products to figure out which brightening ingredient works best for your skin. For my skin, I can see brightening effects conspicuously with products that contain Tranexamic acid and Kojic acid, while nothing happens with Arbutin. I can tell White Generate helps keep my complexion clear.

Recommended if you're looking for an affordable but effective brightening serum!
